Saints Notes    January 27, 2012

I'ts less than two months to go before the 30th Annual Lutheran Festvial Dinner Auction on Saturday, March 10 at the Marriott East Hotel.  Are you registered?

There are just a few more days to take advantage of the early-bird discount - register by January 31 and you save $10 per seat or for a table.  Reservations have been coming in steady the last few days and we're looking forward to a great gathering again this year.

The volunteer team doing the work is excited to build on the blessings of last year's success as the 29th version of the auction raised more than $100,000 to help the students of Lutheran High School and our of funds raised supported the general operations of the school and helped us purchase much needed mini buses to help us transport students to a variety of events.

The 30th edition of LuFest will feature Mr Paul Poteet as our weather, er, emcee again this year.  It's so nice to have Mr. Poteet, a member at Carmel Lutheran Church, lend his unique style of humor and fun to the dinner auction and make everyone feel right at home.  We are also blessed to have Mr. Herman Strakis serve as our auctioneer again this year - he hasn't missed one yet and is still going strong.

Mr. Strakis says he's hoping to have some great items to put up for bid in the live portion of the auction as well as auction items for the silent auction.  We are holding 'Load the Truck for LuFest' events at several Association churches - including St. Paul's this Sunday and Zion, New Palestine next weekend - or you may drop your gift off in the office.

The something new is the Spirit of LuFest - it's a preview of the big night with some special entertainment and interesting dinner speaker.  Thanks to the quintet, Credo, we will have dinner music to set the mood for a relaxing evening of fun and fellowship.  Mr. Grant Curlow from World Class Beers is our speaker who will walk us through the process of selecting the right kind of beer to match the food or occasion.  Yes, it's just like wine - not all beers are good for all occasions and Mr. Curlow will tell us what to look for as he leads us through a beer tasting set up to match our appetizer, salad, main course, and dessert at the Maple Creek Golf and Country Club.  Don't delay - registration closes on February 8!  Seats are limited and are priced at just $50 per person.  The unique craft beers selected for the evening will be available to order the night of event - come on out for a different kind of evening and get a sneak peak of some of the items that will be featured at this year's LuFest.

You may either mail or drop off a check to make your Spirit of LuFest or LuFest reservations - or click the link and purchase your seat for either or both events now online.

Thanks for your on-going support of Lutheran High School and a special thanks to all of our hard-working volunteers who are helping pull these events together!
