Saints Notes        December 16, 2011

The first semester all comes down to this - one day and finals in class periods five, six, seven, and eight.

Of course, it's difficult to compress all the learning and (hopefully) wisdom, students gathered since reporting to classes in early August; but that's what schools do - measure things.

Our Head of School, Michael Brandt, used that example this past weekend during our Lutheran High Sunday visit to Concordia, Greenwood.  Through quizzes and tests and projects - schools go about measuring how much students learned in the various subject areas.

Positive results on the exams result in good things - with promotion to the next grade (or at least the next semester) and knowledge that (again, hopefully) stays with the student for a long time to come.

But as the title of this little blog hints - the last day is a test of a different sort.  It's one we know we have failed and no amount of 'cramming' will save us from a failed score.

Thankfully, our Savior, Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate in a little more than a week - took the test for us and aced it on our behalf. 

That's better news and more important than whatever score we might have gotten in Science, Math, or Advanced Comp!
