Ray Schultz – Good and Faithful Servant

“Well done, good and faithful servant!” The words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 25:23 certainly apply to the life of Ray Schultz.

Ray Schultz passed away October 7, 2021, while surrounded by his wife and family. Ray and his loving wife, Sandie, greatly impacted the Lutheran community and Lutheran High School with their tireless service to many projects. One of Ray’s many legacies will be the football program at Lutheran High School.

Once it was determined that Lutheran High School needed a football program to strengthen the athletic program and to draw young male student athletes to the school, coach Schultz became the driving force and spearheaded the project. Coach Schultz raised the money for the equipment, he raised the money for the lights, he was hired as our first head football coach and he recruited a coaching staff, he sold the football program to our entire student body, he found a place for us to practice and play, and he gained the support of the Lutheran community for the new football program.

The success of our football program can all be traced back to the servanthood life of Ray Schultz. Ray’s selfless service to his Savior always guided how he treated others. Donors were encouraged to give to the football program because they could see the sparkle in Ray’s eyes and hear the excitement in his voice.

Head of School Michael Brandt writes, “Ray Schultz had a wonderful mind for organization. He knew whom to approach to get the information and resources needed to accomplish a goal. Like a coach, he was always finding the right people that formed the right team to serve the church and our Lutheran High School. A great example of what we want our students to become, Christian leaders.”

We are forever grateful for what Ray Schultz has done for our Lutheran High School community. He was good, he was faithful, and he was a servant to all.
