The Denecke Family for Christian Education Fund was established to honor the legacy of Joanne Denecke Kerkhof and to financially support students who are planning to go into the Lutheran teaching ministry.  Joanne, the matriarch of the family, was a Lutheran grade school teacher at Trinity Lutheran on 16th Street, where all five sons graduated.  When LHS was founded, her two youngest became students and members of the classes of 1980 and 1982.  Additionally, her daughter-in-law and two grandsons are also graduates of LHS.
