Q. Must my family be Lutheran to attend LHS?

A. No, LHS students come from many different religious backgrounds including Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and others. Some students may have no church home at the moment. Theology (Religion) courses are part of the curriculum at LHS; each student takes a Christian theology course each year. Students also participate in Chapel service each week [usually] on Thursdays.
 

Q. Is Lutheran High School on a balanced calendar?

A. No, LHS continues to follow a more “traditional” school calendar. We begin in August and end in May with various breaks throughout the year, including a one-week Fall Break, two-week Christmas Break, and one-week Spring Break.

Q. Do students at Lutheran High School follow a dress code?

A. Yes, LHS maintains dress guidelines that all students must follow. All students must wear a SaintsWear top (t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) and solid bottoms, no jeans, leggings, or sweatpants. Periodically, special days are designated as “Jeans for $1 Day” or other themes. Money raised on these days support various student activities or charities.

Q. How do I purchase Saints Wear clothing?

A. Shirts and sweatshirts are available for purchase at our Saints Sign-Up day held in July, and also at many home sporting events. Various student organizations sell shirts throughout the year as well. Seniors also donate back gently used shirts that are available at a discounted price. Certain items are also available throughout the year in our bookstore.
 

Q. What are school hours?

A. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday the school day starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:05 pm. Wednesdays are "Late-Start" and classes begin at 9:00 am. This gives teachers a chance for Professional Development each week. The school office is open 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
 

Q. May my child be dropped off early or picked up late?

A. Yes, school doors open every day at 7:00 am. Students may be dropped off in the morning at 7:00 am or anytime after. The school office is open until 4:00 pm. If your child does not have an activity or practice after school, typically students are picked up between 4:30 and 5:00 pm, or whenever the parents are available.
 

Q. Does Lutheran High School provide transportation?

A. At this time, LHS does not provide a bus service for community students. This decision will continue to be reviewed as our students’ needs change. If this is something you are interested in, please contact us immediately.
 

Q. How does lunch work at Lutheran High School?

A. All LHS students bring their lunch to school. Microwaves are available if needed. Tuesdays are designated as “Taco Tuesdays.” The Athletics Department sells Tacos and Nachos every Tuesday. Thursdays are “Drive-thru Thursdays.” Fast food is available to purchase (pre-order on Tues. or Wed.). Examples of fast food are pizza, Chinese food, Chick-Fil-A, sub sandwiches, etc. There are three designated lunch periods throughout the day.

A. Lutheran High School offers college preparatory coursework.

Q. What is the service hour requirement for students? 

A. Lutheran High School prepares students to lead lives as servant leaders. All students complete 20 hours of service each year as part of their religion curriculum. Click here for more information about service opportunities.
