Welcome to Lutheran High School!

Lutheran High School is an elite, private high school located in the heart of Indianapolis, a thriving metropolis in the middle of the nation. Students of all cultures and backgrounds are welcomed at LHS. We host at least 10 international students per year who live in host homes or with relatives. 

Academic Highlights

Lutheran High School is an academically challenging, college preparatory school with a sound reputation for producing high-achieving students.

LHS has a 100% graduation rate, with 97% of graduates attending a university after graduation.  57% of students earn University credits while at Lutheran High School.  Our students far outpacing the public schools in SAT, ACT, and other standardized test scores.  Click here for more statistics.

We were established in 1976 and enrollment is typically approximately 250 students in grades 9 through 12. Lutheran High School is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and High Schools, the Indiana Department of Education, and the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

LHS offers many classes where University credit can be acquired.  We offer

  • AP (Advanced Placement) classes
  • ACP (dual-University credit) classes with credit from Indiana University.
  • SPAN (dual-University credit) classes on IUPUI’s campus.

Credits earned here can be transferred to universities in the USA and abroad.

Extra Opportunities Galore!

LHS competes in the Indiana State Academic Super Bowl, hosting teams of students who compete in subjects such as Math, Science, English, Literature, Spelling, and more. Lutheran High School boasts the State Championship 2016 with runner-up position in 2017.  Prospects look strong for 2018!

At LHS, 71% of students participate in athletics. We have 19 athletic teams that students can join, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, American football, baseball (boys), softball (girls), track and field, bowling, and more!  Click here for information on our athletic program.

Saints on Stage is a thriving program at LHS where students participate in two high quality performances per year, including one play in the fall and one musical in the spring. Past productions include Disney classics such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Cinderella," as well as American classics like "Our Town" and more.  Click here for more information on the Saints on Stage.

Lutheran offers opportunities for Fine Arts such as choir, band, and traditional art classes.  The LHS Chamber Choir goes on tour each Spring to various locations around the country and Canada, including New Orleans, LA, NYC, NY, Philadelphia, PA as well as local performances.  The band also goes on tour in the Spring.

Lutheran Saints enjoy a wide variety of clubs and activities. Some examples of clubs that students join are Robotics, Sports Media, Movies, Intramural Sports, Student Council, Model UN, National Honor Society, and more!

We are located on the south side of Indianapolis, the state capital and our school is only 15 minutes from the beautiful city's downtown. We are in a safe community, filled with single-family homes, convenient shopping, and various culinary establishments. Indianapolis is a friendly, clean city that is home to the Indianapolis Colts (NFL), the Indiana Pacers (NBA), the Indy Eleven Soccer team (USL), and the Indianapolis Indians (AAA baseball team). We also enjoy a large and diverse City Market, numerous theatres, and entertainment venues. There are four distinct seasons in Indianapolis, with a variety of activities to do in each of them.
