College Credits offered through Indiana University
Lutheran High School is expanding its partnership with Indiana University, Bloomington. Through summer professional development and new advanced diploma work, four teachers are now teaching Indiana University courses on campus to aspiring high school students. Students can begin their pursuit of the Indiana College Core Certification as early as their sophomore year with dual credit American History (6 credit hours) and dual credit chemistry (5 credit hours). Completing these rigorous courses will award these students 11 credit hours (from I.U. Bloomington) toward their goal of 30 total credit hours upon high school graduation.
Indiana College Core is a block of 30 credit hours of college-level general education coursework that applies and transfers seamlessly to all Indiana public higher education institutions and some private institutions and is made up of courses in six competency areas. The certificate allows high school students to earn the equivalent of a full year of college general education credits for little to no cost.
Earning the Indiana College Core is one way for students to complete a credential of value necessary to earn the new Department of Education Enrollment Honors Plus Seal, which guarantees students automatic acceptance to over 40 campuses, including all Indiana public institutions and any private institution that has opted in.
